The Top 35 Best Places for EMS work Based on Culture, Location, and Salary

In a previous article, we detailed the 25 highest paying cities in the United States for Emergency Medical Technicians. (We also explained how we arrived at that number). But for a growing number of job hunters, salary* is no longer automatically the top priority. People are considering many other factors, such as a city’s nightlife, carbon footprint, walkability, parks, and proximity to family and attractions.

EMTs are no exception. If anything, EMTs should be more interested in the many layers of a city, because these factors could determine what type of injury or illness you’ll be treating on a day to day basis. For example, a city with lots of hiking and outdoor activities might see a lot more sprains, broken bones, and animal bites, while a city that’s quieter and has an older population will see a higher number of age-related emergency calls.

So to help narrow down your choices, we’ve researched 35 additional cities, outlined the major perks of living there, and we included the salary* information as well. After all, money isn’t everything… but it does pay the rent.

1. San Jose, California

San Jose is a beautiful city at the south end of the San Francisco Bay.
